Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common type of appliance utilized to adjust your smile. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and attractive, plus they look the best with colored elastics.
There are actually two different types of metal braces.  Perhaps the most well-known are the traditional metal wired which, have a metal bracket with rubber bands holding the wire onto the metal brackets.
The second-most common type of braces are self-ligating braces that do not require elastic ties. Instead, the wire goes through the bracket. Often with this type of braces, treatment time may be reduced and there are fewer adjustments required than with traditional braces.

Damon® Braces

Damon® braces were invented by Dr. Dwight Damon. The Damon® bracket utilizes (sliding-door) technology known as “self-ligation” that allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket.

No elastic or steel ties are used with Damon® brackets. This technology creates less friction and results in greater comfort for the patient. In addition, Damon® braces often reduce both treatment time and the number of adjustments that are usually performed along with minimizing the need for expansion and extractions.

Radiance™

Radiance braces are ceramic braces made of translucent (clear) material. They are popular with teens and adult patients due to their cosmetic appeal and their cost is the same as traditional metal braces.
